Key Stats
124.2 Moeen Ali to Mitchell Marsh
Moeen Ali to Mitchell Marsh. Off break length ball, outside off stump on the back foot defending, to silly mid on for no runs, fielded by Cook. Steve Smith and Joe Root shake hands and that is match drawn. It has been inevitable since lunch with Smith defending with such ease and he had an able partner in Mitch Marsh who played his part. The pitch didn't add much life into the game for batsmen or bowlers and that has been a huge talking point with 20 wickets being very hard to get for either team. England have a lot of positives to take from this game though with Alastair Cook breaking records on his way to scoring 244 and he put his team in a good position to win until rain and Smith dampened the spirits.A whitewash is off the table now as we move to Sydney for the final Test where we could see a couple of changes for both teams. See you then.
