World Cup Champion Australia Announced their Squads for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Two-time tournament champion Australia has named their preliminary 15-player squad for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy, headlined by the return of their captain.
Team Australia for Champions Trophy 2025: Champions Trophy 2025 is to start from 19th February for which the process of announcing the teams is going on. Now the name of World Champion Australia has also been added to this list. 2023 World Cup winning team Australia has announced its squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. Team captain Pat Cummins has been retained.
Under Cummins' captaincy, Australia won the ICC ODI World Cup title by defeating India in the final of the year 2023. Now Cummins will have a great opportunity to win another big title under his captaincy. Matt Short and Aaron Hardy have been included in the Australian team for the ICC tournament for the first time.
The selectors have given the captaincy of Australia to Pat Cummins in the Champions Trophy which is going to be held after 8 years. But despite being selected in the team, it is still not clear whether Cummins will play in the tournament due to the ankle injury he suffered during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Cricket Australia's chief selector George Bailey also expressed this apprehension while mentioning the injury.
Pat Cummins is not a part of the Australian team in the Test series against Sri Lanka. Like him, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Marsh have also been left out. All these players are part of the team in the Champions Trophy. After the 2 Test series, Australia also has to play an ODI in Sri Lanka, in which the same Australian team will be seen playing, which has been selected for the Champions Trophy.
Australia has been placed in Group B in the Champions Trophy. This group includes the teams of Afghanistan, England and South Africa.

As per ICC rules, all eight countries participating in the Champions Trophy have to announce their initial 15-member squad five weeks before the tournament begins, but teams will be allowed to make changes until a week before the first match. After that, any change in the team will require ICC approval.
