The Indian women's team defeated the Bangladesh women's team by 45 runs in the first T20 match of the series on Sunday (April 28). Chasing 146 runs given by India, Bangladesh women scored 100 runs after losing 8 wickets at the end of 20 overs.

Chasing the target, Dilara Akhter started off with a four in the second ball of the innings. But Renuka Singh Thakur sent him LBW on the next ball. Sobahana Mostari and Murshida Khatun were trying to cope with the shock of losing the wicket in the beginning. But Renuka did not give that chance. He bowled Sobahana in the fifth over.

Murshida was dismissed by Dipti Sharma after scoring 13 runs off 18 balls. Fahima came to deal with the disaster and got out after scoring 1 run. After losing 4 wickets for 30 runs, captain Nigar made a pair of 32 runs with Swarna Akhtar. But the run progressed very slowly.

After Swarna was dismissed by Radha for 11 runs, Bangladesh was completely knocked out of the fight. Nigar fought at one end of the wicket, but the loss was a matter of time.

Nigar got out in the last over after scoring 51 runs off 48 balls. But far from avoiding this run loss, it could not bring the fight even closer. Bangladesh stopped at 100 runs.

Earlier in the match opener Smriti Mandhana could not but another opener Shefali Verma got off to a good start with the bat. He scored 31 runs off 22 balls. He was caught by Murshida and returned by Rabeya Khatun. Yastika Bhatia made a partnership of 45 runs with Harmanpreet Kaur for the third wicket.

India was moving towards a big collection, when Fahima broke the pair. The Indian captain returned with 30 runs off 22 balls. Rabeya returned Yastika in the next over. The left-handed batsman scored 36 runs off 6 fours in 29 balls.

In the end, the Bangladeshi bowlers did not let the Indian batters open their hands. Richa Ghosh's 23-run cameo innings saw the visitors score 145 runs.

For her splendid bowling and 3 wickets, Renuka Singh wins the Player of the Match award.
