India Beat Australia in the 1st Test Match: India has defeated Australia by 295 runs in the first match of the five-match Test series. Team India had set a target of 534 runs for Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth. In reply, the Kangaroo team was all out at 238 runs. India scored 150 runs in the first innings after winning the toss and batting first. In reply, Australia's team was all out at 104 runs in the first innings. India got a lead of 46 runs on the basis of the first innings. In the second innings, India declared at 487 runs for six wickets and gained a lead of 533 runs.
The Australian team, which came out to chase the target of 534 runs, lost three wickets for 12 runs on Sunday itself. Nathan McSweeney was out without opening the account, while captain Pat Cummins was out after scoring two runs and Marnus Labuschagne was out after scoring three runs. On Monday, Usman Khawaja was out after scoring four runs. Australia lost four wickets for 17 runs. After this, Steve Smith shared a 62-run partnership with Travis Head. This partnership was broken by Siraj. He got Smith caught by Pant. Smith could score only 17 runs.
Then Head shared an 82-run partnership with Mitchell Marsh for the sixth wicket. Head missed the century and became the victim of Bumrah after scoring 89 runs. Head hit eight fours in his innings. Marsh also missed the half-century and could score 47 runs. Mitchell Starc was out after scoring 12 runs and Alex Carey 36 runs. Nathan Lyon could not open the account. Bumrah and Siraj took three wickets each, while Washington Sundar got two wickets. At the same time, Harshit Rana and Nitish Reddy got one wicket each.
This is also India's biggest win in Australia by the margin of runs. Before winning this match by 295 runs, India had won by 222 runs in Melbourne in 1977. In 2018, India defeated Australia by 137 runs in Melbourne.
After a 0-3 clean sweep against New Zealand at home, this comeback of the Indian team is special. Jasprit Bumrah did exceptional captaincy and led the team from the front. When in trouble, he took wickets. Bumrah took five wickets in the first innings and three wickets in the second innings. He was also selected as the Player of the Match for this.
With this win, Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the series. The second Test will be played in Adelaide from December 6. This was Bumrah's second Test as captain. Earlier in 2022, he had lost the Test against England. This is his first Test win as captain.
