Top Five Contenders for WTC Final 2025, Team India's Equation to Play the Final

WTC Final and Team India's Equation: India have regained the top spot in the Test World Cup points table after beating Australia in Perth. Although they are ahead of everyone else, no team has yet secured a place in the World Test Championship final. There are five teams in the running. Any two of them will play in the final.

India is now at number one. Out of 15 Tests, India has won nine. They have lost five. There has been one draw. India's points are 110. Their point percentage is 61.11. The top two teams play the final of the World Test Championship based on this point percentage. India has played the finals twice before. They have that opportunity this time too.

Australia, who are in second place, have won eight and lost four out of 13 Tests. They also drew one Test. Australia has 90 points. The percentage of points is 57.69. Three other teams are not very behind to Australia's. Sri Lanka, who are in third place, has a percentage of points of 55.56. New Zealand is in fourth place. Their percentage of points has increased to 54.55 after beating India. South Africa, who are in fifth place, has a percentage of points of 54.17.

South Africa will play against Sri Lanka again and then play a two-Test series against Pakistan in their home country in December. That means they also have two series left. Both are on home soil. New Zealand will play a three-Test series against England in their home country from Thursday. This is their last series.

Although Australia, Sri Lanka and South Africa have two series each, India is playing a five-Test series against Australia. That is, there will be no problem in terms of Tests. India is 1-0 ahead after winning in Perth. If they can win three of the remaining four Tests and draw one, then they will not have to look at anyone else. If they win 4-0, Rohit Sharma and his team will directly secure their place in the final. But if they lose a Test to Australia, the situation will be complicated. India has made their own numbers difficult by losing 0-3 to New Zealand at home. So now Rohit's team has a tough fight ahead of him.
