South Africa Has Announced their Squads for Champions Trophy 2025
Temba Bavuma will lead South Africa's squad as the Proteas have announced their 15-player strong squad.
South Africa Squads for Champions Trophy 2025: Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to begin in February. Some teams have announced their teams for this. Meanwhile, South Africa has also announced its team. South Africa has made Temba Bavuma the captain for the Champions Trophy to be held next month. At the same time, fierce fast bowlers Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje who have recovered from injuries, have also been included in the team.
Anrich Nortje suffered a thumb injury last month due to which he could not play the series against Pakistan. Whereas Ngidi was out of the series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan due to a groin injury in November.
South African Cricket Board tried to include as many all-rounders as possible in the team. This is the reason why Wiaan Mulder, who is undergoing rehab, has also been included. His finger was broken during the series against Sri Lanka. However, he played in the second Test against Pakistan recently. Now the physio has given him the green signal. The team has two main spinners in the form of Keshav Maharaj and Tabrez Shamsi, while Aiden Markram will assist both of them. At the same time, the responsibility of fast bowling will be in the hands of Jansen, Ngidi, Nortje, Rabada and Mulder.
Speaking on the squad announcement, Head coach Rob Walter said: “This squad boasts a wealth of experience, with many players having consistently performed in high-pressure situations. That kind of experience is invaluable in a tournament like this."
“We’ve managed to maintain the core group of our 2023 World Cup squad, whilst adding fresh talent."
