ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024: In the second match of the Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 31 runs in a thrilling match, Sadia Iqbal and Fatima Sana performed brilliantly.

Pakistan Beat Sri Lanka in Women's T20 World Cup 2024: The 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup has started today. The second match of the T20 World Cup was played between Pakistan Women's Cricket Team vs Sri Lanka Women's Cricket Team. This match between the two teams was played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah. In this match, the Pakistan team defeated Sri Lanka by 31 runs.

Sri Lanka: Vishmi Gunaratne, Chamari Athapaththu(c), Harshitha Samarawickrama, Kavisha Dilhari, Anushka Sanjeewani(w), Nilakshi de Silva, Hasini Perera, Sugandika Kumari, Inoshi Priyadharshani, Sachini Nisansala, Udeshika Prabodhani.

In this second match of the tournament, Pakistan's captain Sana Fatima won the toss and decided to bat first. After winning the toss, Pakistan's team did not have a good start and two batsmen of the team returned to the pavilion at just 17 runs. The entire Pakistan team was reduced to just 116 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.

Captain Fatima Sana played a brilliant innings of 30 runs from Pakistan's side. During this innings, she hit three fours and a six in 20 balls. Apart from Fatima Sana, Nida Dar scored 23 runs.

Sugandika Kumari gave the first success to the Sri Lankan team. From Sri Lanka's side, Udeshika Prabodhani, Chamari Athapaththu and Sugandika Kumari took the maximum of three wickets each. Apart from Udeshika Prabodhani, Chamari Athapaththu and Sugandika Kumari, Kavisha Dilhari took one wicket. Sri Lanka's team had to score 117 runs in 20 overs to win this match.

Sri Lanka's team did not have a good start while chasing the target and the team lost its first wicket in the form of captain Chamari Athapaththu at just 9 runs. Sri Lanka's team could score only 85 runs after losing nine wickets in 20 overs. Nilakshika de Silva scored the highest 22 runs from Sri Lanka's side. Apart from Nilakshika de Silva, Vishmi Gunaratne scored 20 runs.

Sadia Iqbal took the maximum three wickets from Pakistan's side. Apart from Sadia Iqbal, captain Fatima Sana, Omaima Sohail and Nashra Sandhu got two wickets each.

Before came to this T20 World Cup Sri Lanka women cricket team won the title of Women's Asia Cup T20 2024 defeating team India in the final. From that perspective team Sri Lanka started the marquee event with bit of disappointment.
