New Zealand Announced 15-Member ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 Squad with New White Ball Captain

New Zealand Squads for Champions Trophy 2025: The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is starting from the 19th of next month. This time the tournament will be hosted by Pakistan under the 'hybrid model'. Its matches will be played in three cities of Pakistan (Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi) and Dubai. New Zealand will also participate in this mega event of ICC, which announced its team on January 12 (Sunday).

In this tournament, New Zealand will be captained by spin bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner. This will be Santner's first ICC tournament as captain. Former captain Kane Williamson, opener Devon Conway and fast bowler Lockie Ferguson have returned to the team. These three stalwarts were out of the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka due to franchise cricket commitments.

Fast bowling trio of Will O'Rourke, Ben Sears and Nathan Smith have also been included in the team. All three will play their first senior ICC tournament. Captain Mitchell Santner is the main spin option. While Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra can also trouble the batsmen with their spin bowling.

Experienced fast bowler Matt Henry is also included in the bowling unit. While fast bowler Jacob Duffy has been named as a reserve player as Duffy may enter the main squad if Lockie Ferguson becomes unavailable due to franchise cricket commitments.

If we look at the New Zealand squad, seniors Kane Williamson and Tom Latham will provide valuable experience to the team in batting. Latham will also take up the responsibility of wicketkeeping in the tournament. Santner, Williamson and Latham were part of the Kiwi team in the Champions Trophy held in 2017. Williamson also participated in the 2013 Champions Trophy. Will Young, Mark Chapman and all-rounder Daryl Mitchell will also be in focus.

New Zealand Squad: Mitchell Santner (c), Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Will O’Rourke, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Ben Sears, Nathan Smith, Kane Williamson, Will Young.
