Baroda Creates World Record of the Highest Score in T20 Cricket by Scoring 349 Runs Against Sikkim

Highest T20 Score by Baroda in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Baroda created history in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy on Thursday by scoring the highest score in the T20 format. Baroda scored 349 runs for five wickets in 20 overs with the help of Bhanu Pania's unbeaten century in the match played against Sikkim in Indore, which is the highest total in the shortest format of the game. Baroda surpassed Zimbabwe's record, which had scored 344 runs for four wickets against Gambia this year.

Zimbabwe also held the record for most sixes in a T20 match so far, but the Baroda team has broken this record by hitting 37 sixes. This is also the biggest win in Indian cricket in terms of run difference. Earlier in the year 2019, Andhra Pradesh had defeated Nagaland by 179 runs. This is also the highest score made by any team in Indian cricket.

In this match Baroda started playing from the beginning against a weak Sikkim. They were not giving any bowler any concession. Pania's innings of 134 runs included 15 sixes. He also hit five fours. Every batsman for Baroda scored significant runs.

Shivalik Sharma (55 off 17 balls), Abhimanyu Singh (53 off 17 balls), Vishnu Solanki (50 off 16 balls) and Shashwat Rawat (43 off 16 balls) contributed. Together they hit 37 sixes and 18 fours. Batting first, Baroda scored 92 in 5.1 overs. Even though the two openers returned in the sixth over, they did not lose their rhythm. A partnership of 94 runs for the third wicket and a partnership of 88 runs for the fifth wicket helped Baroda set a world record.

When the Sikkim team came out to chase the target of 350 runs, half of the team had returned to the pavilion by the score of 49 runs. Baroda bowlers dominated the opposition batsmen from the very beginning. The Sikkim team could score only 86 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and lost the match by 263 runs. This is also the biggest margin of defeat for any team in Indian domestic cricket.

Nepal has crossed 300 for the first time in T20Is. They had scored 314/3 against Mongolia in the Asian Games last year. That record was broken by Zimbabwe. They scored 344/4 against Gambia on October 23 this year. Baroda also broke that record. India has the highest number of runs in Tests among all the countries. They scored 297/6 against Bangladesh in October.
