Border-Gavaskar Trophy: The Australian team has announced its 14-member team for the Adelaide Test match. Where Scott Boland has returned to the team. Beau Webster has been included in Team for the first time.
Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia Squads: The second match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia will be played at the Adelaide Oval from December 6 to December 10. For the upcoming match, the Kangaroo team has entered two new players in its 14-member team. These two players are none other than fast bowler Scott Boland as well as all-rounder Beau Webster.
After India's huge victory by 295 runs in the Perth Test, Australian captain Pat Cummins had said that Mitchell Marsh was facing fitness issues since the England tour. Till now nothing was clear, but now the Australian Cricket Board has confirmed that Beau Webster will be replacing him in the Pink-Ball Test to be played in Adelaide.
Beau Webster, like Marsh, is also adept at showing off with the bat and ball. Whose current age is 30 years. Webster's statistics in his first-class career are excellent. So far, he has scored 5,297 runs in 93 first-class matches and has also taken 148 wickets.
In the beginning of November, two matches were played between India A and Australia A. In the four innings of those two matches, Webster scored 145 runs including a fifty and also took 7 wickets. Since Mitchell Marsh played the first Test, Webster may also get a chance in the playing eleven as his replacement.
"To get a few runs and wickets (for Australia A) was pleasing against a strong Indian side," Webster said.
"Any time you're playing 'A' cricket, it's the one step below Test level, so it does hold you in good stead. To get the call from 'Bails' (men's selection chair George Bailey) at the end of the NSW game was a really proud moment and I can't wait to get stuck in.
"There's a tight turnaround between the Adelaide and Gabba Test so I think (I'm there) just to have some cover there for that middle-order role, whichever way they go," he added.
Australia squad for second Test: Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey (wk), Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitch Marsh, Nathan McSweeney, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Beau Webster.
