Sri Lanka women beat West Indies women by 9 wickets to register a win in the third T20I that was played at National Cricket Stadium, St George’s, Grenada. The win helped Sri Lanka women win the three-match T20I series 2-0. Sri Lanka women won the toss and chose to field first.

Left-arm spinners Sugandika Kumari and Inoka Ranaweera registered impressive figures of 2/32 and 2/16, respectively. West Indies batters, especially the top order, struggled against the length bowled by both spinners. West Indies were 28/3 at one point.

 Stefanie Taylor and Deandra Dottin scored 24 and 28, respectively, trying to revive the West Indies innings, but couldn’t build a big partnership. Chinelle Henry scored 32 in 15 balls and was the highest scorer for West Indies women, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. West Indies women scored 119/5 in 20 overs.

Sri Lankan spinners mixed their deliveries cleverly and made the West Indies batters make mistakes. Both spinners flighted the ball cleverly and bowled in the right areas.

Sri Lanka Women batters approach the innings on an aggressive note

Sri Lanka women chased the target in 17.4 overs. Opener Hasini Perera scored 52 in 59 balls and remained unbeaten. Captain Chamari Athapaththu scored 32 in 22 balls, hitting 5 fours. One down batter Imesha Dulani scored an unbeaten 34 in 25 balls, hitting 5 fours.  

Leg break bowler Afy Flethcher was the only wicket taker for the West Indies women, registering figures of 1/14. It was a match that was totally dominated by Sri Lankan spinners.

Sri Lankan women dominated the entire series. The first T20I was washed out due to rain, while Sri Lanka women won the next two T20Is. The T20I series win can act as a morale booster for Sri Lanka women ahead of their next series.
