In advance of the December auctions, Gujarat Titans have decided to hold onto India all-rounder Hardik Pandya for an additional Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
The news comes amid speculation that Pandya may move teams and rejoin the Mumbai Indians for the historic cricket tournament in 2024.

In 2022, the all-round player led the Titans to victory in their inaugural season. A year later, he guided the team to the finals, where they were defeated by Chennai Super Kings in an exciting last-ball match at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. Pandya spent seven seasons with the Mumbai Indians prior to joining the Titans, where he won four titles in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.

The Titans' owners, CVC Capital Partners, were given the option to select three players when the team was founded in 2021. They decided on Pandya (who cost Rs. 15 crore), Rashid Khan (who cost Rs. 15 crore), and Shubman Gill (who cost Rs. 7 crore).

Prior to leading the Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals teams in the Indian Premier League, respectively, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane were traded to the Delhi Capitals in 2020.

On December 19, Dubai will host the IPL 2024 auction—the first time the competition has taken place outside of India.
