Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have named former Australian batsman David Hussey and former New Zealand pacer Kyle Mills as the chief mentor and as bowling coach respectively for the next edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2020.
Earlier this year in mid-July, they announced another Kiwi Brendon McCullum as the head coach of the team as they ended the contract with previous head coach Jacques Kallis and assistant coach Simon Katich.
The declaration was made on Saturday, as a major aspect of a general redo of the Knight Riders backroom. KKR CEO Venky Mysore said: "It's extraordinary to invite David Hussey and Kyle Mills to the Knight Riders Family. They bring an abundance of experience as experts, and are astounding people. We are sure that their commitment as part of the think tank of KKR, and to the KKR Academy, will be important."
David Hussey had a vast experience in franchise cricket especially in T20s as he played T20 cricket all over the world. And noticeably, he played 23 matches for KKR in between 2008 and 2010. He had been with Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab too. So, he has also enough experience of Indian Premier League (IPL).
On the other hand, Kyle Mills is the second highest wicket-taker for New Zealand in ODI cricket history. He played over 200 matches in his career and took over 300 wickets. He also served as bowling coach for New Zealand national team in 2018.
