ISPL 2024: Rules and Regulations of Indian Street Premier League:
T10 Format
The tournament is being played in a T10 format, which means each team will be batting for 10 overs. This is a well-known format across the world.
Tip-Top Toss
The original coin toss is not the way to determine who will bat/bowl. Instead, the two captains will adopt the Tip-Top Toe format of Toss which is quite familiar with street cricket. In this case, the captains will be on their backs to each other and then go forward a certain distance. After that they will turn around and start moving towards each other with tiny Tip-Top steps.
As they come close to each other, the captain whose foot will touch the foot of his opposition number, will win the Toss.
Tennis Ball
In the tournament, Tennis Ball is used instead of a Deuce ball, which is generally used in cricket. Also, there will be two Tape-Ball overs per inning.
Powerplay Rule
The Powerplay Rule of the tournament gives three powerplay overs to each team. The first two overs of the inning are mandatory powerplay overs. The batting team can take the other powerplay over at any time in between the 3rd to 9th over of their innings.
50-50 Over
In the 50-50 over, the batting team challenges for a number of runs they would score in the next over. In this case, the batting team will also pick the bowler that they want. The minimum number of the challenge run is 16.
If the batting team achieves to accomplish the challenge, 50% of the runs that they scored in that over will be additionally added. (Example: A team challenges for 16 runs and they score 16 runs, in that case, 50% of 16, which is 8, will be added. Hence the team will accumulate 24 runs from that over).
If the batting team fail to accomplish the challenge, 50 % runs from that over which they scored will be deducted. (Example: If the batting team manage only 12 runs in their 16-run challenge over, 6 runs will be deducted from the batting team).
Tape Ball Over
Each bowling team will have to bowl two overs with Tape Balls in every inning. A Tape-Ball is nothing but a tape-covered Tennis Ball, but the original Tennis ball is used here instead of the hardened Tennis ball which is generally used in cricket. This ball generally swings a lot and is tricky to control. Tape-Ball Overs can't be used in a 50-50 over.
9 Street Runs
This is another unique rule of this tournament. If a batter hits a six and the ball goes over the fence to one of the audience stands, the batting team will be awarded 9 runs instead of Six Runs which is generally awarded in cricket.
