Rishabh Pant New Captain of Lucknow Super Giants: Rishabh Pant has become the captain of the Lucknow Supergiants team. Lucknow Supergiants announced their new captain for IPL 2025. KL Rahul captained Lucknow in the last three seasons but the team released him before this season. The team bet on Rishabh Pant and he was bought at a record-breaking price of Rs 27 crore. Pant has also become the most expensive captain apart from being the most expensive player in IPL history.

"I will give my 200 percent. That's my commitment to you. I will try whatever is there in my power to repay the faith. I am really excited and looking forward to new beginning and new energy. And have a blast out there with lot of fun," Pant told mediapersons after being unveiled as the new skipper.

"We start with new hope and aspirations. And most importantly, new confidence. I wanted to introduce you all to our new captain Rishabh Pant," Goenka said.

“Rishabh Pant knows a few players, doesn’t know others. We have to create a platform where there’s mutual trust. End of the day, you want to win. You won’t win every game—losing and winning are part and parcel. You learn to take defeat with victory," Goenka added.

Pant was bought by the Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore in the mega auction for IPL 2025. Pant thus became the highest-priced player in IPL history. He surpassed Shreyas Iyer in this matter, who was sold for Rs 26.75 crore. For the first time since 2016, Pant will be seen playing for a team other than Delhi.

Pant has represented Delhi since 2016 and has scored 3284 runs in 110 matches at an average of 35.31 including one century and 18 half-centuries. Pant was made the captain of the team in 2021 and led the team to the playoffs in the same season. Lucknow retained Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni ahead of the mega auction for the IPL 2025 season. The last season was not good for Lucknow and the team finished seventh with 14 points with seven wins and seven losses in 14 matches.
