Afghanistan Beat South Africa in 1st ODI Match: Afghanistan cricket team finally broke the losing streak against South Africa. Afghanistan team has won for the first time in a white ball cricket match against South Africa. This is South Africa's first defeat in any white ball cricket match against Afghanistan.

In the first match of the three-match ODI series played in Sharjah on today, September 18, Afghanistan first all out South Africa for 106 runs and then turned the pages of history by winning the match by losing 4 wickets in 26 overs.

The Afghanistan team did face some trouble in chasing the target of 107 runs, but former captain Gulbadin Naib and Azmatullah Omarzai helped the team cross the threshold of victory. Naib scored 34 runs and Umarzai played an unbeaten inning of 25 runs to lead the team to victory.

Earlier after winning the toss, the South African team came into bat with great hopes but Fazalhaq Farooqui forced them to surrender. This pacer from Afghanistan took 4 wickets for 35 runs in a spell of 7 overs. Apart from African captain Aiden Markram (2), he also dismissed both openers Reeza Hendricks (9) and Tony De Georgi (11). Farooqui was also got the wicket of Wiaan Mulder (52), who scored the most runs for the South African team.

Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar gave that support to Fazalhaq Farooqui. Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar took 3 wickets for just 20 runs in the spell of 10 overs. He broke the back of South Africa by dismissing Tristan Stubbs (0), Jason Smith (0) and Kyle Warren (10). Senior player Rashid Khan also got two wickets.

With this win, Afghanistan now have registered victories against all teams but India and Nepal (only one match played) in at least one of the formats.

Aiden Markram, the captain of South Africa is in for a chat. He says that there are a lot of honest learnings to take away from this game and they failed to under pressure.
