Check The Major Rule Changes For TATA IPL 2025
From the introduction of a ‘Golden Badge’ to a major change in the use of match balls, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming season.

TATA IPL 2025 Rules: IPL 2025 will start from March 22. Before this, the captains of all the teams had a meeting on Thursday. This meeting was held at the headquarters of the Board of Control for Cricket in India in Mumbai. Meanwhile, the news of changes in many rules of IPL has come out. An important decision has been made regarding the bowlers. BCCI has removed the ban on the use of saliva on the ball. Now bowlers will be able to use saliva on the ball during the match. Along with this, other rules have also been changed.
According to a news of Cricbuzz, many important decisions have been taken in the meeting. In this, the use of saliva on the ball has been exempted. BCCI had previously banned the use of saliva on the ball. Along with this, there is another big rule change. A rule is made about the second ball during the match. Under this, the second ball will come after the 11th over of the second innings of the IPL match. This rule has been brought in view of the effect of dew at night.
The decision to change the ball is left to the umpires. They will see if there is dew or not. If there is dew, they can change the ball. So this rule will be applicable in most night matches only. There is hardly any need to change balls in day matches. "It depends on the umpires whether the ball needs to be changed or not. They will decide based on the presence of dew," the source said.
Bowlers will be Able to Use Saliva
BCCI has taken a big decision regarding the upcoming IPL season in which they have given the biggest relief to the fast bowlers, in which they have decided to remove the ban on applying saliva on the ball during the COVID-19 epidemic. With the removal of this rule, it may now be a bit difficult for the batsmen to score runs at a fast pace in the last overs of the innings.
Let us tell you that with the amendment in ICC's Code of Conduct 41.3, the use of saliva to shine the ball has now been completely banned. The use of saliva to shine the ball by any player during an international match will now be counted in the category of ball tampering.
Golden Badge on Champions Jersey
Much like European football leagues where defending champions don a golden badge. From IPL 2025, the defending champion team's jersey will have a golden badge on it which will be present on the arm. In this way, KKR will become the first team to enter the field with a golden badge.
The Impact Player rule will Remain in Force till 2027
When the Impact Player Rule was implemented in the IPL in the year 2023, it has been the most discussed since then. Statements of many former and current players also came out on this rule, in which it was also said that this rule reduces the importance of all-rounder players. At the same time, according to the report of Cricbuzz, the BCCI made it clear in a meeting with the captains held in Mumbai on March 20 that it will not abolish the Impact Player Rule, in which it will be kept in force till the year 2027.
The first match of this season of IPL will be played between KKR and RCB. This match will be held on 22 March at Eden Gardens. The first qualifier of the tournament will be played in Hyderabad on 20 May. The eliminator match will be played in Hyderabad on 21 May. The second qualifier of the season will be played in Kolkata on 23 May. If we talk about the final, it will be held in Kolkata on 25 May.
