AUS vs IND 3rd Test: 5th Day's Play Canceled due to Rain, Match Ended as Draw
Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25: India-Australia third test has been declared a draw due to rain. Australia had given India a target of 275 runs, but Team India could score only 8 runs in the second innings. The match was declared cancelled due to rain on the fifth day.
Australia vs India 3rd Test Match Ended End in a Draw: The third Test between India and Australia has been drawn at Gabba in Brisbane. Today, 18 December was the last day of the Gabba Test. India saved the follow-on by scoring 260 runs in their first innings which ended on the last day. Earlier, Australia had put up 445 runs on the score board in the first innings. In this way, Australia got a lead of 185 runs on the basis of the first innings. Australia declared their second innings at 89 runs for the loss of 7 wickets and set a target of 275 runs for India. In response, India had scored only 8 runs in 2.1 overs without losing any wicket when it started raining. As the rain did not stop, the match referee declared the Gabba Test a draw after talking to both the captains.
Today India's innings ended at 260 runs in the first session of the last day of the Gaba Test. After this, a large part of the first session was washed out due to rain and due to this lunch was also declared early. After lunch, Australia got the first blow in the second innings when Jasprit Bumrah clean bowled Usman Khawaja (8) on the fourth ball of the third over at a score of just 11. After this, Bumrah gave the second blow by getting Marnus Labuschagne caught by Pant on the first ball of the 7th over. Then Akashdeep gave the third blow by getting Nathan McSweeney (4) caught by Pant behind the wicket in the very next over.
Australia got the fourth blow in the tenth over when Akashdeep got Mitchell Marsh (2) caught by Pant at a score of 28. After this, Mohammad Siraj gave Australia the fifth wicket in the form of Steve Smith (4) on the last ball of the 11th over. In this way, half of Australia's team returned to the pavilion at a score of just 33.
Mohammed Siraj took his second wicket in the form of Travis Head (17) and gave Australia the sixth blow in the 15th over at a score of 60. Then Jasprit Bumrah got Pat Cummins (22) caught by KL Rahul and took Australia's seventh wicket on the first ball of the 18th over at a score of 85. Australia declared their second innings at 89 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.
The Indian team, which came out to bat in response to Australia's target of 275, had scored only 8 runs on the scoreboard without any loss in 2.1 overs when it started raining. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul were unbeaten on 4-4 runs. After this, due to rain, it seemed difficult to get a result of the match. Due to this, the match referee declared the Gaba Test a draw after talking to both the captains.
