New Zealand Beat India by 8 Wickets in 1st Test Match and Register First Win in India in 36 Years

New Zealand Won the 1st Test: New Zealand has won the Bengaluru Test by defeating Team India. With this, the Kiwi team also created history. It wrote the script of its victory in a Test match on Indian soil after 36 years. New Zealand last won a Test match in India in the year 1988. After that victory at Mumbai's Wankhede ground, this is the first time that the Kiwi team has hoisted the flag of its Test victory in India. New Zealand defeated Team India by 8 wickets in the Bengaluru Test. With this, it also took a 1-0 lead in the 3 Test series.
The Indian team had set a target of 107 runs for New Zealand to win. The Kiwi team had 10 wickets in hand and a full day of play left to achieve this score. In such a situation, they were strong contenders for victory. And that is exactly what happened. New Zealand won the match by losing only 2 wickets.
This is New Zealand's first victory on Indian soil in the 21st century. This is because after registering its last victory in 1988, New Zealand had never won a Test in India. But, that wait is now over.
After the first day was completely washed out due to rain, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss on the second day and decided to bowl first. In the overcast conditions, New Zealand's fast bowlers wreaked havoc and bowled out India for their lowest score in India, i.e. just 46 runs. Five Indian batsmen could not even open their account. New Zealand took a crucial lead of 356 runs over India by scoring 402 runs in their first innings. When the Indian team seemed to be retaliating in the second innings, Matt Henry and William O'Rourke changed the course of the match by taking three wickets each.
Sarfaraz Khan's Century isn't enough for Team India Win
When India was all out for 46 runs in the first innings, Sarfaraz Khan could not even open his account, but in the second innings, Sarfaraz Khan's bat roared fiercely. Coming at number four, he played a brilliant innings. He scored the first century of his career in adverse conditions. He scored 150 runs. Rishabh Pant also impressed a lot, but he was clean bowled for 99 runs. He fell victim to nervous nineties for the seventh time. The dismissal of both the players was the turning point of the match.

Team India's Current Scenario for WTC Final
With this loss now team India has seven more matches in current cycle of World Test Championship (2023-25). Remaining two matches of this India vs New Zealand series and five matches in upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In these matches now team India have to win at least four matches for WTC Final. But if India won able to win next two matches in this series and also won the three matches in BGT then team India will surely play WTC Final 2025.
