Zimbabwean pacer Blessing Muzarabani has signed a deal with the Kolkata Knight Riders for the 19th edition of the IPL that will begin on the 28th of March. The 29-year-old was earlier linked to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) but went unsold at the February auctions. He was signed in place of West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph by Islamabad United.
As per reports, Muzarabani had already informed Islamabad United that he would not be able to play in the tournament. Kolkata Knight Riders stated on Friday, the 13th of March, that the franchise had signed the pacer. Muzarabani has earlier played for Multan Sultans in the PSL. Muzarabani produced some impressive performances for Zimbabwe in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in India & Sri Lanka, claiming 13 wickets in 6 games.
The pacer made his debut for Zimbabwe in 2017, claiming 105 wickets in 88 T20Is, 70 wickets in 57 ODIs & 67 wickets in 18 tests. The 29-year-old has played in various franchise leagues around the world, including the Caribbean Premier League, ILT20, the Vitality Blast in England, and the PSL.
He has also played franchise cricket in Zimbabwe for Mashonaland Eagles. Muzarabani was a replacement player for South African pacer Lungi Ngidi for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru during IPL 2025 in the last few matches, but didn’t get a chance to play. Muzarabani’s inclusion would provide options in the pace department for KKR.
As per reports, the 29-year-old will join the KKR team after arriving in India on the 17th of March. KKR will play its first match of the 19th edition against the Mumbai Indians on the 29th of March at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
