ICC U-19 Men's Cricket World Cup: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday announced the schedule for next year's Under-19 World Cup. The global tournament will be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia from January 15 to February 6. Sixteen teams will participate, with a total of 41 matches, including the final, to be held at the Harare Sports Club. Interestingly, India and Pakistan are not in the same group.
The Under-19 World Cup will consist of four groups, each featuring four teams. This will be followed by a Super Six stage, from which four teams will qualify for the semi-finals and the final in Harare. India will begin their campaign on the opening day against the United States, while Zimbabwe will face Scotland. Tanzania will make their tournament debut against the West Indies.
Group A comprises of the most successful side in the tournament’s history, India (five titles), the 2020 winners Bangladesh, the USA, and New Zealand.
Group B has co-hosts Zimbabwe, Pakistan, England, and Scotland.
Group C comprises the defending champions Australia, Ireland, Japan, and Sri Lanka.
Group D has Tanzania, the West Indies, Afghanistan, and South Africa.
India's first match will be against the United States on January 15 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. India will face Bangladesh on January 17 and New Zealand on January 24. It's worth noting that India and Pakistan were in different groups in the last two Under-19 World Cups. However, if both teams perform well in the tournament, there's a possibility of them facing each other in the later stages, such as the Super Six or the final.
Harare Sports Club (Harare, Zimbabwe), Takashinga Sports Club (Harare), Queens Sports Club (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe), Namibia Cricket Ground (Windhoek, Namibia), and HP Oval (Windhoek) will host the event.
