Earlier reports suggested that JioHotstar, the streaming company formed by the merger of Reliance's Jio and Disney's Star India, had indicated its intention to withdraw from its $3 billion four-year media rights agreement with the ICC in India. The company had reportedly informed the ICC that it would be unable to fulfill the remaining two years of the contract until 2027 due to significant financial losses. This development came just months before the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is being co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. However, the ICC has now completely refuted these reports.
