England Won the 2nd Test against New Zealand: England's team has registered a resounding victory in the second Test in Wellington. It defeated New Zealand's team by a huge margin of 323 runs. Ben Stokes' team had scored 427 runs in the second innings and set a target of 583 runs with the help of the lead of 155 runs in the first innings. In response, New Zealand collapsed at 259. With this victory, England has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series and has won the Test series in New Zealand after 16 years. However, there is still one match left but despite losing in that, this series will remain in England's name.
Harry Brook, Joe Root and Gus Atkinson played an important role in England's victory. After losing 4 wickets for just 43 runs in the first innings, Brook shared a 174-run partnership with Ollie Pope. He helped England score 280 runs with a brilliant innings of 123 runs in 115 balls. He also scored a half-century in the second innings. He was also selected Player of the Match for his performance. In the second innings, Joe Root helped set a huge target of 583 runs by scoring 106 runs.
After the batsmen, England's bowling teamed up to hunt down New Zealand's batsmen. In the first innings, Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse took 4 wickets each to bundle out Tom Latham's team for just 125 runs and helped them gain a strong lead of 155 runs. In the second innings, captain Ben Stokes took 3 wickets, Carse, Chris Woakes and Shoaib Bashir took 2-2 wickets each and Atkinson took 1 wicket. In this way, England bowled out New Zealand for just 259 in the second innings.
This is a shameful defeat for New Zealand after thrashing India 3-0 at home. In the last four series, New Zealand has played a clean sweep. Either the team itself gets white washed in the series or the other team gets white washed.
