OUT! Caught (Sub). Shakib Al Hasan to Amila Aponso. Stock ball half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to mid on. Bangladesh have comprehensively beaten Sri Lanka in the opening match of the Asia Cup in Dubai. The men in green had to do it the hard way, however, after losing two wickets in the first over of the match and then shortly afterwards seeing Tamim Iqbal suffer a broken hand. That meant they were effectively three wickets down with just two runs on the board, as Lasith Malinga returned to international cricket with a bang. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun rescued things for the Tigers in a swashbuckling partnership of 131 runs, with the former going on to score a sensational career best 144. Sri Lanka's sloppy catching and fielding quickly translated into lazy batting, with the top order collapsing in a heap to some questionable strokeplay. When Angelo Mathews was pinned LBW the result was never in doubt, although Sri Lanka's lower order added a few lusty blows to delay the inevitable. We'll be back tomorrow when Pakistan take on Hong Kong.
