Salman Butt blasts Shadab Khan after Pakistan loses first T20I to Afghanistan: You weren't competing in Perth.
On Friday, Pakistan fell by six wickets to Afghanistan, who chased down 93 with 13 balls to spare. Salman Butt said Shadab Khan was "clueless."
Former batsman Salman Butt slammed Shadab Khan after Pakistan dropped their first Twenty20 International against Afghanistan by six wickets on Friday, March 24 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Pakistan huffed and puffed their way to 92 for nine in 20 overs after choosing to bat first. The Afghans completed the pursuit in 17.5 overs. Butt described Shadab as 'clueless' after he fielded four fast bowlers, Ihsanullah, Zaman Khan, Faheem Ashraf, and Naseem Shah, on a surface designed for spin bowling.
When Afghanistan lost four early wickets, the veteran chastised Shadab for not placing enough pressure on Najibullah Zadran. "The pitch was ideal for slow bowling." Despite playing so much cricket, Shadab bowls his quick bowlers as well as himself. "When Najib Zadran came to bat, there was no slip," Butt was quoted as stating on his YouTube channel.
Ihsanullah made his T20I start on Friday, picking up two wickets in his first over. Butt believed that Shadab should have been more cautious with his field placements at the moment.Afghanistan's batsmen were struggling against Ihsanullah, but Shadab was able to keep the fielders at the periphery.
What is your interpretation of the pitch, and why did you decide to bat on it? "That means you have no idea," he explained. "You went with four fast bowlers on this pitch because you weren't playing in Perth," Butt continued. Pakistan also lost to Afghanistan for the first time in international cricket as a result of the loss. The series' second and final T20I will be played on Sunday, March 26.
