BAN vs IRE: Litton Das scores Bangladesh's fastest half-century in a convincing win.

Bangladesh defeated Ireland handily in the second T20I to win the series in three games. It was their second straight triumph. The domestic team's convincing 77-run win was the result of another excellent batting display by the Bangladeshi top-order. After slamming the quickest half-century in Bangladesh history—an 18-ball total—star opener Litton Das entered the record books.

In a second T20I that was postponed due to weather at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, it was absolute carnage for the Bangladeshi batters. After wicketkeeper-batsman Litton Das was dropped in the fourth over of the game, the host team roared to an early lead. The opener made the most of the opportunity and scored Bangladesh's fastest half-century in the shortest format of the competition.

Former Bangladeshi captain Mohammad Ashraful's 16-year mark for the fastest half-century was broken by Litton, who scored 83 runs in just 41 deliveries. In just 20 deliveries against the West Indies in the 2007 T20 World Cup, Ashraful broke the magic 50-run barrier. Bangladesh ended with a daunting total of 202 runs in their 17 overs, helped by the opener's thunderous top-order knock.

Ireland never got moving in the chase and gave up easily after Bangladeshi captain Shakib Al Hasan took a stunning five-for to surpass Chris Gayle as the most successful wicket-taker in T20Is. The two-time IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders will be hoping that Bangladeshi batter Litton can repeat the same in the upcoming season of the tournament. Litton's form led Bangladesh to another easy series victory against Ireland.

The 28-year-old was signed by KKR during the IPL 2023 auction and could be crucial to the top order following the injury to captain Shreyas Iyer. "You get to play high-intensity games in the IPL, which is a big platform. It will be extremely beneficial for me to share a dressing room with some of the top cricket players in the world because the more you get to know them, the easier it will be for you to pick their brains and take up a few tips and tricks," Litton had said following the auction.
