Sri Lanka Squad for T20I Series against India: The India vs Sri Lanka three-match T20 series will start from July 27. Four days before that, like India, Sri Lanka Cricket Board also announced the name of the new captain. The team was announced at the same time.
Wanindu Hasaranga resigned as the captain after the T20 World Cup. So the Sri Lankan cricket officials have to choose a new captain. Charith Asalanka will lead Sri Lanka in 20 over cricket this time. Sri Lanka has announced a 16-man squad for the series against India. Kushal Perera has been returned to the team. The island nation's selectors have tried to choose a team with a mix of youth and experience.
Charith Asanlaka has captaincy experience. He was the captain in the T20 series against Bangladesh before the T20 World Cup 2024. Wanindu Hasaranga was banned. He has also captained the Sri Lanka Under-19 team and recently led Jaffna Kings to the LPL title. He took over the captaincy from Thisara Perera at the beginning of the season.

Charith Asalanka (capt), Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Janith Perera (wk), Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis (wk), Dinesh Chandimal, Kamindu Mendis, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara, Dushmantha Chameera, Binura Fernando.
Former captain Wanindu Hasaranga will still remain an integral part of the side, which will be coached by Jayasuriya. Hasaranga picked 15 wickets in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League season.
The Indian team will also play the T20 series under the leadership of a new captain. With Rohit Sharma retiring after the World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav has been given the leadership role. The coaches of both teams have also changed after the World Cup. Gautam Gambhir has taken over as the coach of the Indian team. Sanath Jayasuriya became the interim coach of Sri Lanka.
