Md Shami Returns after 14 Month as India’s squad for T20I Series Against England Announced
Mohammed Shami is set to make his international comeback in the five-match T20I series against England which is scheduled to start from January 22.
India vs England T20 Series Squad: Mohammed Shami has returned to Team India after about 14 months. The selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India has given Shami a chance for the series against England. Shami will play in the T20 series against England from January 22. But along with this, a shocking report has come out. According to this, Shami will not play all the T20 matches against England.
Shami played his last match for India against Australia in November 2023. It was an ODI match. Shami played his last T20 match in November 2022. Now he has returned to Team India after about 14 months. Shami was suffering due to injury. After recovering, he played in domestic matches and performed well. Now he will be seen playing against England. Due to swelling in his knee, Shami could not join the Indian team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
Suryakumar Yadav will be seen leading the team against England, while Axar Patel will be seen handling the responsibility of vice-captaincy. Apart from this, two wicketkeeper-batsmen have been included in the team. These include Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel. Most of the players in the team have got a chance who played an important role in India's victory on the South Africa tour.
Dhruv Jurel has entered the team in place of Jitesh Sharma. Star all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has also been included in place of Ramandeep Singh. The young batsman recently performed well on the Australia tour. However, he could not be a part of the team on the South Africa tour.
Apart from this, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana will also be seen playing in the T20 series. Both these bowlers were seen playing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Surprisingly, Shivam Dubey and Riyan Parag have not got a chance in this team. At the same time, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested.
