India vs England highlights, 5th Test Day 2: Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill's splendid hundreds gave India complete control of the fifth Test against England despite a late batting collapse that saw the hosts end day two at 473 for eight on Friday.

At the end of the second day's play of the last Test of the series being held in Dharamshala, Team India has scored 473 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. Kuldeep Yadav is unbeaten on 27 and Jasprit Bumrah is unbeaten on 19 runs at the stumps. There is a partnership of 45 runs between these two for the ninth wicket. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a fast start to Team India on the second day, ahead of the score of the first day. Both of them played century innings.

After this, India is in the driving seat on the basis of fifties of Sarfaraz Khan and Devdutt Padikkal. However, after tea on the second day, India's batting faltered and the team lost five wickets in one session. After tea, India lost the wickets of Sarfaraz Khan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin. India will be eyeing a score of more than 500 on the third day.

PADIKKAL SHOWS HIS CLASS

Even after Rohit was dismissed by Ben Stokes and Shubman fell to James Anderson early in the second session of Day 2, it was the young batting pair of Sarfaraz and Padikkal who stretched the run flow for India with their controlled aggression. To add to England's problems in Dharamsala, Rohit and Shubman's solid 175-run partnership was followed by a well-paced 97-run partnership by Sarfaraz and debutant Padikkal.

However, their impressive shift was ended by off-spinner Shoaib Bashir, who extended his remarkable day out in England's innings with the ball by dismissing both batters in quick succession just after Tea.

Padikkal became the fifth Indian player to make his Test debut in the ongoing series as the assembly line of Test-ready cricketers continued to shine for the home team.
