ICC Women's World Cup 2025 Prize Money for Champions: The Indian women's cricket team has made history. They defeated South Africa by 52 runs to win the Women's ODI World Cup. In the final played late last night at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Team India etched its name in history by becoming world champions for the first time. This is a huge moment for women's cricket as India has won an ICC tournament for the first time. In honor of this historic victory, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced a huge prize money for the entire team.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has announced a massive prize money of ₹51 crore (US$1.5 billion) for the Indian women's cricket team. The BCCI secretary explained that this prize money is a significant bonus in addition to the prize money received from the International Cricket Council (ICC). The tournament winners have already received prize money of US$4.48 million (approximately ₹39.55 crore).
Mr. Mithun Manhas, President, BCCI, said: “On behalf of the Board, I congratulate the Indian women’s cricket team on this historic world-championship victory. The team’s resilience, talent and togetherness have lifted our nation’s hopes. This triumph vindicates the investment and faith the BCCI placed in building a world-class women’s programme.”

The coaching staff, support personnel and every state association have played a role. Congratulations to each and every member of the team. This team has made the entire cricket fraternity proud.”- said Mr. Devajit Saikia, Honorary Secretary, BCCI.
He further stated that the BCCI is very pleased with the way the Indian team defeated South Africa to win the title today at the DY Patil Stadium. In addition to the ICC prize money, the BCCI is providing a prize money of ₹51 crore at its own expense. This amount will be distributed among the players, selectors, and the support staff led by Amol Muzumdar.
The Indian women's team batted first in the final against South Africa and scored 298 runs. The opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma put on a 104-run partnership for the first wicket, laying the foundation for a big score. Shafali scored 87 runs in 78 balls, hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes. Deepti Sharma scored 58 runs alongside her. Finally, Richa Ghosh scored 34 runs in 24 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. It was because of these players that the team was able to score a big total.
Later, Shefali Verma and Deepti Sharma showed their brilliance in bowling. The powerful South African batsmen could not stand in front of Deepti. African captain Laura Wolvaardt did score a century and played an innings of 101 runs, but the rest of the players failed to perform well. The entire African team was reduced to 246 runs. Deepti took five wickets in the match. Apart from her, Shefali gave only 36 runs in 7 overs and took two wickets. For her good performance, she was given the Player of the Match award. On the other hand, Deepti got the Player of the Tournament award.
