Availability of Foreign Players for Remaining IPL Matches
Due to tension between India and Pakistan, many foreign players had returned to their country. However, if media reports are to be believed, Australian players will no longer return to IPL. This is being discussed in the Australian media and Cricket Australia has also said that it will support its players.
In a statement on Friday, Cricket Australia echoed those thoughts, saying: “We continue to closely monitor the situation in Pakistan and India, including obtaining regular advice and updates from the Australian Government, BCCI and local government authorities, and maintaining communication with our players and support staff currently in the region.”
“The health and safety of players is not negotiable. We are in direct contact with all the South African players at the IPL and keeping them updated with security reports. We have offered them any support they need,” Andrew Breetzke, the chief executive of the South African Cricketers’ Association, said.
