Key Stats
19.6 Sean Abbott to Arjun Nair
Sean Abbott to Arjun Nair. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot cutting, to cover for 1 run, shy attempt by Maddinson. You couldn't of found a tighter game than that for the opener of the Big Bash league and between two inter-city rivals, it made for spectacular viewing. The Thunder got themselves over the line though with a single off the last ball as Nair got the ball away and got down the other end. Watson was the anchor for their innings, scoring a brilliant 77 from just 46 deliveries as the Thunder captain helped his side to victory. The man on debut, Daniel Sams, did his best to stop them however, finshing with figures of four overs, 14 runs for four wickets, including the Thunder captain Watson. It was a great game and either side would have deserved victory today, it's cruel on the Sixers, but that's how T20 cricket goes.
19.6 Sean Abbott to Arjun Nair
Over 20. 15 runs. Bowler: Sean Abbott. Sydney Thunder: 5-150(rr 7.50)
19.5 Sean Abbott to Aiden Blizzard
Sean Abbott to Aiden Blizzard. Yorker, middle stump on the front foot flick, to deep backward square leg for 1 run, fielded by Hughes.
19.4 Sean Abbott to Aiden Blizzard
FOUR! Sean Abbott to Aiden Blizzard. Half volley, middle stump on the front foot flick, well timed past fine leg for 4 runs. Blizzard flicks the ball off of his legs and it brings the Thunder side to within two of victory. It goes down to fine-leg with pace and the fielder's aren't getting round to stop that.
19.3 Sean Abbott to Arjun Nair
Sean Abbott to Arjun Nair. Yorker, to leg on the front foot pushing, to mid on for 1 run, mis-fielded by Sams.
19.2 Sean Abbott to Arjun Nair
FOUR! Sean Abbott to Arjun Nair. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, top edge in the air uncontrolled past third man for 4 runs. Four again for Nair and he doesn't know much about this one. He's tried to pull the ball into the leg side but it comes off of the top edge and goes for four down to third-man.
19.1 Sean Abbott to Arjun Nair
FOUR! Sean Abbott to Arjun Nair. Full toss, outside off stump on the front foot Steer, well timed past third man for 4 runs. A wide full-toss allows Nair to free his arms and he chops the ball away to the boundary behind point on the off-side.
