Sri Lanka Beat India in the 2nd ODI Match by 32 Runs: Sri Lanka has taken a 1-0 lead by defeating India by 32 runs in the second ODI. Batting first, Sri Lanka had scored 240 runs. Chasing the target, India was reduced to 206 runs. The first match was tied on the same ground on 2 August.

Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka won the toss and decided to bat first at the R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday (August 4). Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 240 runs for 9 wickets in 40 overs. In reply, Team India was reduced to 208 runs in 42.2 overs.

India has faced its first defeat under the coaching of Gautam Gambhir. Team India had earlier won the 3-match T20 series 3-0 and after that the first ODI was tied. Indian batsmen failed in this match. Except captain Rohit Sharma, no one could play a big innings.

While chasing the target of 241 runs, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a good start to India. There was a partnership of 97 runs between the two for the first wicket. Captain Rohit Sharma was out after scoring 64 runs in 44 balls. Shubhman Gill 35 and Shivam Dubey returned to the pavilion without opening their account.

After this, Virat Kohli was out on 14 balls in 19 balls, Shreyas Iyer was out on seven balls in 9 balls and KL Rahul was out without opening the account. Jeffrey Vandersay took all the first 6 wickets of India. After this, Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka dismissed Axar Patel (44), Washington Sundar (15), Mohammed Siraj (4). Arshdeep Singh was run out. He scored three runs. Kuldeep returned unbeaten after scoring 7 runs.

Earlier, Sri Lanka, batting first, scored 240 runs losing nine wickets in 50 overs in the second ODI. Kamindu Mendis scored the highest 40 runs for Sri Lanka. For India, Washington Sundar took three wickets and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets. The Sri Lankan team, who came to bat first, suffered a setback on the very first ball. Pathum Nissanka was out without opening the account. Siraj got his first success. After this there was a partnership of 74 runs between Mendis and Avishka.

Washington Sundar showed Avishka the way to the pavilion. He scored 40 runs in 62 balls. Kusal Mendis was out after scoring 30 runs in 42 balls. Sundar had him LBW. Although Washington missed taking a hat-trick. Sadira Samarawickrama was out after scoring 14 runs in 31 balls. Zenith Liyanage scored 12 runs in 29 balls.

Captain Charith Asalanka was out after scoring 25 runs in 42 balls. Dunith Vellallage scored 39 runs in 35 balls. The Indian team has not made any changes. There have been two changes in the Sri Lankan team. Wanindu Hasaranga and Mohammed Shiraz have been dropped. Jeffrey Vandersay and Kamindu have come into the playing eleven.

Sri Lanka have not beaten India in an ODI bilateral series since 1997 but have a strong chance to break the hoodoo here. One win and that's it. Job done.
