Mohammad Kaif believes that India's Mr. 360 needs to improve his game, and that Suryakumar Yadav is dissatisfied with his ODI record thus far.
Suryakumar scored 31 runs off 26 deliveries in India's first One-Day International against New Zealand on January 18 in Hyderabad. The Men in Blue scored a massive total of 349/8, eventually winning by 12 runs, thanks to Shubman Gill's double century.
During an interview with Star Sports, Kaif predicted that Suryakumar Yadav would be disappointed with his inability to translate his T20I form into ODIs,saying: "He is in excellent form in T20s but has yet to break through in ODIs.He has only hit two fifties in 16-17 innings of play.As a result, there is disappointment. He is well aware of this."
The former Indian hitter emphasised that the two versions of the game played with a restricted number of innings demand slightly different abilities, explaining: "He is a fantastic player and is in good form as well but he has to work. I have high hopes for him, but each format is unique.Tests, ODIs, and T20Is are all distinct events. It is not true that ODIs and T20Is are comparable.
You have plenty of time because this is a very long game.Suryakumar Yadav is required to work there."Suryakumar has scored 1578 runs in 45 T20Is at an exceptional average of 46.41 and a brilliant strike rate of 180.34. In 18 One-Day Internationals, he has scored 419 runs at a paltry average of 29.92.
"He has a weakness there, the line to which he got out," Kaif said of Suryakumar's dismissal in the first ODI. When the ball pitches slightly outside of off-stump, he becomes stuck. His bat is always at an angle.
If the ball had been faster, he could have played it through point or cover." Because he won't be given the ball in his key areas of strength, the cricketer-turned-commentator advised the Mumbai Indians (MI) player to work on them "When the ball is delivered close to the off-stump, I believe he must work.
He excels on the leg side, but good bowlers will avoid him there. They will only keep the ball outside the off-stump. Even if they must concede runs, they will do so through cover, which is his weak point."Suryakumar looked at ease in the middle and hit four fours in his 31-run knock. He ended Gill's 65-run fourth-wicket stand by slicing a length ball from Daryl Mitchell to Mitchell Santner at cover.
