India ended Day 2 firmly on top against South Africa in the first Test in Kolkata. Ravindra Jadeja was the star of the show on Day 2, scoring 27 runs and taking four wickets.

IND vs SA, Kolkata Test Day-2: The second day of the first Test between India and South Africa belonged to the bowlers. Three wickets fell in the first innings, followed by six each in the second and third innings. South Africa's first innings was reduced to 159 on the first day. India's first innings ended with nine wickets falling on the second day, as Shubman Gill, who retired hurt, could not return to bat. By the end of the second day's play, South Africa had scored 93 runs in their second innings, but had also lost seven wickets. Team India is in a strong position. South Africa Playing-11: Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, Wiaan Mulder, Temba Bavuma(c), Tony de Zorzi, Tristan Stubbs, Kyle Verreynne(w), Simon Harmer, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, Keshav Maharaj.

The first session of the second day saw a total of 25 overs, in which 101 runs were scored. Team India lost three wickets in this session, while Shubman Gill retired hurt. In the 35th over, Washington Sundar was caught out by Simon Harmer, scoring 29 runs. Subsequently, Shubman Gill retired hurt, experiencing neck pain.

KL Rahul was then caught out in the 40th over, bowled by Keshav Maharaj. Rahul scored 39 runs off 119 balls, hitting one six and four fours. Rishabh Pant, returning from injury, made a brisk 27 runs, hitting two sixes and as many fours in this innings, which came in from 24 balls. India's score after the first session was 138/4.

 

India's first innings ended at 189 runs in the second session. Although Team India had lost nine wickets, captain Sanju Samson retired hurt and was unable to bat. He felt neck pain and left the field. KL Rahul scored the most runs in India's first innings, scoring 39 runs. Washington Sundar scored 29, while Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja each scored 27 runs.

 

Simon Harmer took the most wickets for South Africa in the first innings, taking four wickets. He conceded just 30 runs in his 15.2 overs. Marco Jansen took three wickets. Keshav Maharaj and Corbin Bosch took one wicket each.

Ravindra Jadeja began the third session with the wicket of Aiden Markram, having him caught (4) off the second ball of the 9th over. Jadeja then put South Africa on the back foot by taking two wickets in the 17th over, dismissing Willem Mulder (11) off the third ball of the over and Tony de Zorzi (2) off the fifth ball.

Jadeja bowled Tristan Stubbs off the last ball of the 23rd over. Stubbs was completely lost, scoring only 5 runs. In the 28th over, Axar Patel took South Africa's sixth wicket, dismissing Kyle Verreynne. Verreynne scored 9 runs.

By the end of the second day's play, South Africa had lost 7 wickets. In the second innings, Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets. Axar Patel took 1 wicket.
