Corey Anderson in USA Squad:

Former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson has got a place in America's T20 team. The USA team will play a 5-match T20 International series against Canada from April 7. America has announced its 15-member team for this series, in which Anderson has got a place for the first time.

The co-hosts of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will play five T20I against their neighbours in preparation for the mega-event, which will commence on 1 June.

Corey Anderson last played for New Zealand in 2018. He is now eligible to play for the USA. After settling in America, he became eligible to play in Major League Cricket there.Corey Anderson retired from New Zealand cricket in 2020.

33-year-old Anderson scored more than 900 runs in 28 innings at a strike rate of 146 in minor league cricket. Corey Anderson has scored 683 runs in 13 Test matches while playing for New Zealand, while he has 1109 runs in his name in 49 ODIs. Anderson scored 485 runs in 31 T20 International matches. Anderson has 16 wickets in his name in Tests, while he took 60 wickets in ODIs and 14 wickets in T20.

Record Century in 36 Ball:
Corey Anderson, playing for New Zealand, has scored a century in 36 balls in ODIs. He did this feat against West Indies in Queenstown in 2014. In that match, Anderson had scored unbeaten 131 runs in 47 balls with the help of 6 fours and 14 sixes. The Kiwi team had won this match by 159 runs.

Former India Under-19 player Harmeet Singh and former Canada captain Nitish Kumar along with South Africa's domestic stars Andries Goss and Shadley Van Schalveck have made it to the USA T20 team.

Despite being the leading run-scorer in MiLC history since its inception in 2021, former U19 World Cup-winning captain for India, Unmukt Chand, was notably left out of the squad.

Monank Patel (c), Aaron Jones (vc), Andries Gous, Corey Anderson, Gajanand Singh, Harmeet Singh, Jessy Singh, Milind Kumar, Nisarg Patel, Nitish Kumar, Noshtush Kenjige, Saurabh Netravalkar, Shadley Van Schalkwyk, Steven Taylor, Usman Rafiq.

Reserve players: Juanoy Drysdale, Saiteja Mukkamalla, Shayan Jahangir.

Speaking about the squad selection, USA captain Monank Patel said:
“With the ICC T20 World Cup looming, this series holds immense significance for our team. 
We have some new players coming into the squad, and these games will help us get the right combinations and prepare well for the World Cup.”

The matches will take place from 7 to 13 April at the Prairie View Cricket Complex (PVCC), in Houston, Texas.

The co-host of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 team USA is placed at group A of the tournament along with the India, Pakistan, Ireland and Canada. USA will play the opener of the mega event against their neighbours Canada on June 1 at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas.

In November 2021, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup would be played in the United States and the West Indies. The ICC's publicly stated hope is that hosting a major competition for the first time will put the USA on the global cricketing map.
