The fourth day's play of the Melbourne Test is over. Australia has scored 228 runs after losing nine wickets in their second innings. On the basis of the first innings, they had a lead of 105 runs. As such, the total lead of the team has become 333 runs. The brilliant batting of Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon has left India yearning for wickets. So far, the two have made a partnership of 55 runs in 110 balls for the 10th wicket. Lyon is unbeaten on 41 runs and Boland is unbeaten on 10 runs. Australia suffered the ninth blow at the score of 173. The Kangaroos had scored 474 runs in their first innings. In reply, India's first innings ended at 369 runs on Sunday itself.

The partnership of Lyon and Boland has caused the most damage to India. 110 balls means both of them have batted together for about 18 overs. Team India got a chance in the last over of the day, but that ball from Bumrah was a no ball. Lyon's bat edged Bumrah's no ball and the ball went to slip. Rahul also caught the catch, but due to the no ball, Lyon got a lifeline.

Australia's batting was poor in the second innings. Marnus Labuschagne scored the highest 70 runs. At the same time, captain Pat Cummins played an innings of 41 runs. Apart from this, Lyon has scored runs. Five Australian batsmen could not even touch the double digit figure. These include Sam Constas (8), Travis Head (1), Mitchell Marsh (0), Alex Carey (2) and Mitchell Starc (5). Usman Khawaja was dismissed after scoring 21 runs and Steve Smith after scoring 13 runs.

From India, Bumrah has taken four wickets so far and Siraj has taken three wickets. Ravindra Jadeja got one wicket.

Now 98 overs will be played on Monday. It will be interesting to see whether Team India is able to wrap up the Australian innings in the opening session or not. Now it will have to create history in Melbourne, because before this the highest successful chase in a Test in Melbourne was 332 runs, which England did against Australia in 1928.
