When will pacer Mayank Yadav can return? Lucknow coach and captain gave some important update

Mayank made his IPL debut with a match against Punjab Kings. He took the first ball in the tenth over of the match. He hit 145 km/h in the first three balls of that over. The third of which was 150 km! But Bairstow and Dhawan hit him for four each in that over. Mayank picked up more pace in the next over. He bowled the first ball of the over at a speed of 155.8 kilometers per hour. This is the fastest ball so far in this year's IPL.

Mayank took 3 wickets for 21 runs in that match. Win the team, be the man of the match. In the next match against Bengaluru, he took 3 wickets with 14 runs, this time he was the man of the match. Apart from speed, the 21-year-old also showed great skill in line-length. But due to injury, he did not play more than 1 over against Titans.

Yesterday on 12 April, the Lucknow Super Giants suffered a significant defeat against the Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2024 match, losing by six wickets. Despite being led by KL Rahul and enjoying a streak of three consecutive wins, Lucknow was outplayed by Delhi's spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who made a strong comeback with figures of 3/20. This performance helped restrict the hosts to 167/7. In response, the Capitals comfortably chased down the target with 11 balls remaining, clinching a crucial victory that propelled them from the bottom of the table.

It was evident that the LSG missed Mayank's services during their bowling innings, as Jake Fraser-McGurk (55*) and Rishabh Pant (41) played blistering knocks to take DC to comprehensive win. Rahul provided an update on Mayank's potential return during the post-match presentation.

Rahul mentioned that Mayank Yadav is feeling and looking good, but the team is cautious not to rush him back. They want to protect his body and ensure he's fully fit before returning, despite Mayank's eagerness to play. The team management remains cautious about handling the young pacer.

"He (Mayank Yadav) is feeling good, he looks good, but we don't want to rush him. We need to protect his body, he's itching to go. Need to make sure that he's hundred per cent (fit) before he comes back in a couple of matches," said Rahul.

Earlier Lucknow Super Giants coach revealed Mayank Yadav was feeling injured before the Titans match. Before the match against Delhi, Langer said, "Gujarat Titans was also feeling some pain in the hip before the match. We thought that medicine would cure it. After seeing doctors and physios everything seemed fine.

That's why he also bowled the first over against the Titans. But he started feeling pain again. We do an MRI scan. And there is swelling. So we are very hopeful that he will get fit and return to bowling soon.

"Mayank is unlikely to play the next two games as he continues his recovery. We're hoping he regains full fitness before our home game against Chennai Super Kings on April 19,"  LSG Coach Langer had said ahead of the match against DC.

Following the defeat against the Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants has slipped to the fourth position in the points table, with their net run rate taking a hit. Currently standing at 0.436, LSG now trails behind CSK, who holds a net run rate of 0.666. Notably, KKR holds the second position, propelled by a substantial net run rate of 1.528. At this stage, four teams—KKR, CSK, LSG, and SRH—are level on points.

On the other hand, the Delhi Capitals have now moved up to the ninth position on the table, having secured two wins and endured four losses thus far in the tournament.
