IPL 2024: After Delhi, Chennai also lost against Hyderabad, SRH Beat CSK by 6 Wickets

IPL 2024, SRH vs CSK: Batting first at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Friday (April 5), Chennai Super Kings collected 165 runs after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad won by losing only 4 wickets with 11 balls remained.

Chennai Super Kings lost back to back matches:

Chennai Super Kings have witnessed two consecutive losses in the TATA IPL 2024. After Delhi Capitals, this time the defending champions lost against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

After losing the toss, Chennai's batsmen could not make much use of it. They lost the wicket of Rachin Ravindra for the team's 25 runs. The Kiwi batsman was caught at mid-on while picking up Bhubaneswar's outside off length ball for 12 runs off 9 balls.

Another opener Ruturaj Gaikwad tried to kill after his departure. But he did not last long at the crease. Shahbaz Ahmed took wicket of his on 26 runs. Chennai lost the second wicket for the team's 54 runs.

However, Chennai dominated the third wicket. Impact player Shivam Dubey stormed aside Ajinkya Rahane. They crossed the hundred in the 12th over. Chennai was getting glimpses of big collection in their pair.

However, Pat Cummins stopped Chennai's run in the 14th over. Dubey returned with a catch of 45 runs off 24 balls with 4 sixes and 2 fours. Even if Rahane was at the crease, his T20 innings was not easy. He got out in the 15th over after scoring 35 runs off 30 balls.

In the end the cameo of Ravindra Jadeja helps CSK to crossed one fifty runs milestone. Chennai collected 165 runs for 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja remains unbeaten with 31 off 23 balls. Jadeja hits four fours.

Chasing a relatively easy target, Abhishek Sharma gave Hyderabad a flying start. Abhishek literally played with the bowlers of Chennai. He got out after playing only 12 balls, but scored 37 runs. Strikerate 308.

Abhishek was dismissed by Deepak Chahar with an opening partnership of 46 runs off 17 balls.

In the second wicket, the pace of runs slowed down a bit, but Travis Head and Aiden Markram continued to score runs quickly. They both made a pair of 60 runs off 42 balls. The pair broke with Auji Batter heading out. Head scored 31 runs off 24 balls.

Then Shahbaz Ahmed came into the crease . This all-rounder was struggling to get runs. On the other hand, Markram scored a half-century. He got out by scoring exactly 50 runs. Markram hit four fours and a six in the 36-ball innings. He was lbw by Moeen Ali.

Heinrich Klaasen was also uncomfortable fo getting runs even when he came down for batting. On the other hand, Shahbaz departed after playing a slow innings of 18 runs off 19 balls.

However, Nitish Reddy scored 14 runs off 8 balls to ensure Hyderabad's victory. Klaasen remained unbeaten on 10 runs off 11 balls. Hyderabad won by six wickets in 18.1 overs.

Player of the Match: Abhishek Sharma (SRH) 0/7 (1) & 37 (12).

After winning this match Sunrisers Hyderabad now positioned at 5th placed in point table. On the other hand even after losing the match Chennai Super Kings placed at 3rd position.

Although Chennai's next match will be against the table topper Kolkata Knight Riders.
