In the current IPL, runs are coming like rain from the bat of the batsmen. But it just the opposite picture for the bowlers, they are showing a helpless picture in every match. India's World Cup-winning cricketer Gautam Gambhir and commentator Harsha Bhogle feel that this is discrimination.

According to them, the ball being played in IPL should be changed and the match should be played with Duke ball.

Fountain of runs on the batsmen, with lot of four sixes. The fans want to be a part of this frenzy in T-20 or T-10 version of franchise cricket. Just as this season's IPL continues to give gifts. In the matches so far, the average of runs of the teams batting first is above 188. From which it is easy to guess how helpless the bowlers are.

This year's IPL is being played with the Kokabura ball. Made in Australia, this ball listens to the batsmen more than the bowlers. The stitches on its seams are given by automatic machines. Since the surface is flat, the amount of swing is reduced. As a result, the bowlers have to take a beating. India's World Cup winning cricketer Gambhir has demanded to drop this ball to bring back the beauty of IPL.

On the debut episode of the podcast, 180 Not Out, Gambhir questioned the necessity of exclusively using Kookaburra balls.

"If a manufacturer cannot produce a ball which can last for 50 overs, might as well change the manufacturer. There’s nothing wrong with changing the manufacturer. What is this compulsion with only using the Kookaburra?," Gambhir said.

Gambhir's team was on the receiving end of the widening gap between the two departments of the game when KKR lost the match against Rajasthan Royals despite posting a massive 223-run total on board.

RR chasing the daunting target, were behind the eight-ball from the beginning but still managed to come back from the brink. Led by Jos Buttler, the Royals scored 96 runs in the last six overs, once again suggesting that bowlers had little room for error in the shortest format of the game.

Commentator Harsha Bhogle also joined the debate, advocating for the use of Duke balls to aid bowlers in T20 cricket.

In a tweet, Bhogle emphasized the need for a balance between bat and ball, especially when pitches do not favour bowlers.

"I will reiterate this. We need greater balance between bat and ball and in a situation where the pitches aren't helping, the ball must do more in the air. How about a Duke ball, a ball with a more pronounced seam, that allows more lateral movement and ensures batters can't just hit through the line at will. Love to hear expert opinions on this," Bhogle expressed on social media.
