BAN vs SL T20I: Two South Asian nations, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are set to resume their heated cricket rivalry with a T20I three-match series. This series will prove to be helpful, keeping in mind the upcoming ICC Men's T20I World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and USA.

The 1st T20I clash between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on March 4, and Indian fans can view the matches on the Fancode app and website.

Bangladesh will be making a return to T20I action for the first time since their December 2023 trip to New Zealand. However, with nearly all their players recently participating in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 season, they will surely be into the T20 groove.

In a squad consisting of Litton Das, Mustafizur Rahman, and Saumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto was named captain of Bangladesh ahead of the T20I Series. He will captain in all three formats, including ODIs and Tests.

As for Sri Lanka, they will be under the leadership of new captain Charith Asalanka in place of the suspended Wanindu Hasaranga for the first two of three T20Is.

It's worth noting that Bangladesh have never secured a victory over Sri Lanka in a Twenty20 series. Bangladesh defeated world champions England 3-0 at home in 2023, and also won series against Ireland and Afghanistan, before drawing a three-match series 1-1 against New Zealand.

Bangladesh is currently placed 9th in ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings with a rating of 227, one spot behind the visitors who are at 8th with a rating of 234.

Focus on T20 World Cup 2024:
The T20 World Cup will be played in the month of June in the year 2024, for which only about three months are left to start, so all the 20 teams do not have much time left to prepare.

“Last year, we did well in T20s,”

“It is very important that we play eight or 11 matches before going to the World Cup."

“If we take these matches… and decide how we want to play in the World Cup, then it will be easy to plan.”

The World Cup is a key focus of Sri Lanka, too.

Sri Lanka coach Chris Silverwood said he was expecting a “very competitive series between two good sides”.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are both in Group D for the World Cup, along with South Africa, Nepal and the Netherlands.
