Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the India-Australia One-Day International series due to a back injury and is likely to miss some of the IPL 2023 Matches.
Shreyas Iyer will not be fit for the ODI series against Australia, the BCCI confirmed on Tuesday.
The BCCI announced on Tuesday that Shreyas Iyer will not be ready for the ODI series against Australia. At Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, the first of the three ODI games will be played on March 17. Iyer had previously been unable to play in the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test. The 28-year-old reported lower back pain after Day 3 of the fourth Test, according to the Indian Cricket Board.
He was then taken for scans and then ruled him out of the match entirely. Rohit Sharma called it "unfortunate" and stated that the situation "didn't look good" after the end of the fourth Test in Ahmedabad on Monday. "Bad man. It was just such a tragic occurrence. He had to wait all day to take the field, and when the game was over, his back problem returned.
He was told to go to the infirmary and get scanned. He doesn't seem to be doing that well, though I'm not sure of the precise scan report," Rohit had said. "Obviously, that's why he's not present here, so we don't know the precise status of how long he will take to recuperate or when he will be back. It did not appear to be very good when it was happening.
I'm hoping he gets well soon so he can play again," he continued. Iyer missed the series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand due to a back injury he suffered after the Test series in Bangladesh. He then skipped the opening Test against Australia because he was receiving medical treatment at Bengaluru's National Cricket Academy. After getting better, he participated in the second and third Tests, recording scores of 4, 12, and 26.
