IND vs NZ 2nd ODI: India predicted XI against New Zealand, Pitch Report, Telecast Details and Whether Report
India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI, Pitch will support both batters and bowlers
Team India will face the Black Caps once more in the second game of the series at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, where they narrowly defeated them in the first One Day International.
Shubman Gill, a young player, scored 208 runs off 149 deliveries in the first game, which was simply incredible. Sharma, his partner and the captain of India, got off to a strong start but failed to turn it into a large total. No player rose to the occasion besides Gill, which is a serious cause for concern going into the second game.
One such area that the team administration needs to handle is workload management, as players can get exhausted from playing in too many games.
Is there a chance that the team management may alter their lineup for the upcoming game? Without further ado, let's get right to the point: 23-year-old Shubman Gill has been nothing short of amazing.
He is currently one of the top names on the team sheet since whatever he touches turns to gold. The opener improved, scoring his first double century against Sri Lanka in the third one-day international of the series. The young player maintained composure and skillfully planned his innings even as wickets fell at the other end, giving India a comfortable lead after the first innings.
On the other side, team captain Rohit Sharma once more let the supporters down. The 35-year-old was the team's second-leading run scorer, but after a strong start, he is struggling to get going.Given that the ODI World Cup is coming up soon and Rohit Sharma is a crucial member of the team, this is a significant cause for concern. He needs to be more responsible with the bat because he is the senior cricketer.
The "King" of Indian cricket, Virat Kohli, is performing at his peak, but he hasn't faced a strong bowling assault in ODIs.Prior to the first ODI, he scored three hundreds in four games, but he was unable to play with the same fervour the next match. He is capable of destroying any attack on his good days, and Indian supporters will be hoping for the same in the second ODI as the Men in Blue aim to win the series at Raipur.
Ishan Kishan was pulled from the playing XI and replaced by Shubman Gill in December 2022 after a brisk double-century in the third One-Day International against Bangladesh. Now that KL Rahul, the designated keeper-batter, was not present, Kishan had a well-deserved opportunity albeit in the middle of the order.Although he was unable to capitalise in the last game, he still has two more chances to succeed. Suryakumar Yadav has repeatedly demonstrated his talent in the T20 format, but he has been unable to do the same in ODI cricket.
He scored 31 off 26 deliveries in the previous match and was looking good but Daryl Mitchell got the better of him. In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, he could have capitalised on the opportunity but that hasn't been the case as of now. Recently appointed vice-captain of the Indian ODI side, Hardik Pandya has been very ordinary ever since. He is leaking runs with the ball and with the bat, the 29-year-old has failed to impress. In the last match, he leaked 10 runs per over and that's a massive reason to worry as India still doesn't have a worthy backup for Pandya.
Washington Sundar, an all-around spin bowler, also fell short of expectations. The 23-year-old was given the chance to fill in for Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, but he hasn't done anything to solidify his place on the team. There are currently too many possibilities for India, therefore he will have two more games to establish himself.Shardul Thakur frequently gives up a lot of runs but also succeeds in getting key wickets. The seamer took two wickets in the last game, but most significantly, he got rid of Michael Bracewell, who was about to give India the advantage.
He can contribute with his batting as well and thus, will be key for the team going ahead. For Mohammed Shami, there's a lot of room for improvement. He was India's second-best pacer after Jasprit Bumrah in ODI cricket but Mohammed Siraj has overtaken him by the sheer weight of his recent performance and thus, his position in the playing XI is under threat.
If the cricketer doesn't improve, players like Prasidh Krishna, Deepak Chahar, and Umran Malik can take his place. Mohammed Siraj, who is 28 years old, has recently distinguished himself. In the previous game, he took four wickets and displayed excellent line and length. In Jasprit Bumrah's absence, he has undoubtedly been India's finest bowler, and the team's management is hoping that he can maintain this form into the ODI World Cup.
The spin wizard Kuldeep Yadav has performed well in the limited opportunities he got in the recent past. He picked up two wickets in the previous match and can add more to the tally on the spin-friendly track of Raipur.
