KKR found Gambhir's Replacement, Former West Indies Pacer DJ Bravo has Joined Defending Champions as a Mentor

Dwayne Bravo as New Mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders: Kolkata Knight Riders found Gautam Gambhir's replacement. Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is being appointed as Mentor by KKR. Knight Riders won the IPL last year with the hands of Gambhir. But he took over as the coach of the Indian team. So the mentor position was vacant in KKR and now Bravo took that responsibility.

Dwayne Bravo, the former West Indies all-rounder, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Notably, Bravo was plying his trade in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) but his stint was cut short because of his injury after which he opted to retire.

Bravo has vast experience in T20 cricket. He has played in T20 leagues of different countries. Played for Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions in IPL. Scored 1560 runs in 161 matches, also took 183 wickets. Bravo has the experience of playing 582 matches in T20 in all teams. Now he will handle the responsibility of KKR's mentor this time.

Bravo is not only the responsibility of Kolkata, the rest of the Knight Riders teams will also handle.

"DJ Bravo joining us is an exciting development. His relentless drive to win, along with his vast experience and deep knowledge, will greatly benefit our franchise and players," Knight Riders Group CEO Venky Mysore said in a media release on Friday.

"We’re also pleased that Bravo will be involved with our other franchises globally, including CPL, MLC, and ILT20," Mysore said.

Talking about his role in KKR, Bravo said: "I’ve been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in the CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate.

"The owners' passion, the professionalism of the management, and the family-like environment make it a special place. This is the perfect platform for me as I transition from playing to mentoring and coaching the next generation of players.”- he also added.

As part of the West Indies men’s cricket team, Dwayne Bravo won the 2012 and 2016 editions of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup under Daren Sammy’s leadership.
