Medium pacer Kashvee Gautam will replace pacer Renuka Singh for the upcoming test match against Australia in Perth, which begins on Friday, the 6th of March. It will be a day/night test match that will be played at the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) stadium. The BCCI has stated that the decision on Renuka Singh was taken keeping in mind workload management.
BCCI has added that Renuka would be rested to manage and monitor her workload. BCCI’s medical team would be constantly reviewing Renuka’s schedule and monitoring her fitness. The 30-year-old pacer from Himachal Pradesh has so far played 3 test matches in her international career, claiming 2 wickets with the best bowling figures of 1/30.
On the other hand, Kashvee Gautam hasn’t played a test match yet but has represented the national team in 6 ODIs. Recently, Kashvee claimed 4 wickets in 3 matches in the women’s domestic tournament and was the second-highest wicket taker in the entire tournament, while Sayali Satghare was the highest wicket taker in the entire tournament, claiming 6 wickets in 4 matches.
In that tournament, Kashvee scored 106 in 86 balls in one of the matches against a bowling attack that consisted of names like Kranti Goud, N Shree Charani and Nandini Sharma. Kashvee was the tenth-highest run scorer in that tournament.
The Indian team will consist of names like Kranti Goud, Amanjot Kaur and Sayali Satghare in the pace department. All these players haven’t represented the national team in tests. The spin department will consist of players like Sneh Rana, Deepti Sharma and Vaishnavi Sharma.
India Women last played a test match against Australia Women in India at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in 2023, that was won by India women. In 2021, India Women played a test match against Australia Women in 2021 at Carrara Oval that ended in a draw.
