IND-W Beat WI-W in warm up match for Women's T20 World Cup 2024. Batting first, the Indian team scored 141 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs 121 runs for eight wickets in the stipulated overs.
IND-W vs WI-W T20 World Cup Warm-up Match: The Indian women's team made a great start to their campaign in the T20 World Cup and defeated the West Indies by 20 runs in a practice match. Batting first, the Indian team scored 141 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs with the help of a half-century by Jemima Rodriguez. In reply, the West Indies team could only score 121 runs for eight wickets in the stipulated overs despite an unbeaten innings of 59 runs by Chinelle Henry.
After Jemimah, Pooja Vastrakar impressed in bowling for India, who took three wickets for 20 runs in four overs. During this, she also bowled a maiden over. While chasing the target, West Indies did not have a good start and lost three wickets for 13 runs. However, Chinelle and Shermane Campbell handled the West Indies innings to some extent. Chinelle also scored a half-century, but could not win the match for the team.
Earlier, West Indies won the toss and invited India to bat first. India did not have a good start and lost three wickets for 23 runs. Captain Hayley Matthews bowled brilliantly for West Indies and took four wickets.
Shefali Verma (7), Smriti Mandhana (14) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (1) failed and India's top order could not impress in the practice match. However, Jemima played an innings of 52 runs with the help of five fours in 40 balls and managed to take India to a fighting score. After Jemima's innings, the team was successful in registering a win due to the excellent performance of the bowlers led by Vastrakar.
