India Won the 2nd Test Match and Steal the Series: India defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the Kanpur Test and won the two-match Test series 2-0. Team India got a target of 95 runs, which Rohit and company achieved by losing three wickets. Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 29 runs and Rishabh Pant on four runs. Rohit Sharma was out after scoring eight runs, Shubman Gill on six runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal on 51 runs. There was a 58-run partnership for the third wicket between Virat and Yashasvi. Mehdi Hasan Miraz took two wickets for Bangladesh, while Taijul Islam got one wicket. Yashasvi hit eight fours and one six in his innings.

In this match after losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh scored 233 runs in their first innings. In reply, India batted aggressively and declared their first innings at 285 runs for the loss of nine wickets. India then got a lead of 52 runs. In the second innings, Bangladesh team scored 146 runs and gave a target of 95 runs to India.

India played a brave game in this Test. Only 35 overs could be played on the first day. Rain disrupted the match and then the second and third day's game was washed out. The game started on the fourth day and after bowling out Bangladesh, India again batted aggressively and made the record of scoring the fastest 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 runs by any team in a Test. After this, Bangladesh was bowled out quickly in the second innings and the easy target was chased.

Officially, 90 overs are bowled in a day in a Test. Bangladesh played 74.2 overs in their first innings, India played 34.4 overs in their first innings, Bangladesh played 47 overs in their second innings and India played 17.2 overs in their second innings. All these add up to around 174 overs and this is less than the total overs of two days (180).

Player of the Match: Yashasvi Jaiswal (IND)72 & 51.

Player of the Series: Ravichandran Ashwin, took 11 wickets in series with a brilliant century in 1st.

After this series win India strengthened their top position in the WTC points table with two big wins against Bangladesh. With 8 wins in 11 Test matches in the WTC 2023-25 cycle, India stay on top with 98 points and the highest win percentage of 74.24 after the Bangladesh series. 

Meanwhile, Bangladesh slipped two positions down from fifth position to seventh after conceding their fifth defeat in eight Test matches in the WTC 2023-25.
