ICC Player of the Month, August 2024: International Cricket Council has announced the nomination of Player of the Month for the month of August. This time no Indian is included in both men's and women's categories. The Indian men's team played an ODI series against Sri Lanka in the month of August in which Team India had to face defeat 0-2. The Indian women's cricket team has not played any match after the Women's Asia Cup. Let's take a look at the nominations for ICC Player of the Month for the month of August-

Men's Player of the Month (August)

Keshav Maharaj (South Africa)
South Africa's experienced left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj will be bidding for his second ICC Men's Player of the Month award after his impressive performance in the two-Test series against West Indies. Maharaj got South Africa's ICC World Test Championship campaign back on track by helping them win the two-match Test series 1–0. In two matches, he took 13 wickets, which came at an average of only 16.07.

Keshav also overtook the great Hugh Tayfield in the series, to become the most successful Proteas spinner in the history of Tests.

Jayden Seales (West Indies)
Caribbean fast bowler Jaden Seales proved his worth by becoming West Indies' leading bowler in the Test series against South Africa last month. He took 12 wickets at an average of 18.08, including nine in the second match.

If Seales win the Player of the Month award, Seales will become the third West Indies player to have achieved the honour this year, joining Shamar Joseph and Gudakesh Motie.

Dunith Wellalage (Sri Lanka)
Sri Lanka's famous all-rounder Dunith Wellalaghe made a lot of noise in the ODI series against India last month. He contributed to his team's victory with both bat and ball. In the series against India, this young all-rounder scored 108 runs and took 7 wickets. Wellalaghe's best score was 67 not out and in this series he took important wickets of Rohit and Gill.

Women's Player of the Month (August)

Harshitha Samarawickrama (Sri Lanka)
Samarawickrama continued her rise to stardom with some monster scores with the bat in August as the left-hander dominated against Ireland in both the ODI and T20I series. She scored total 323 runs and took 5 wickets in the month of August.

Orla Prendergast (Ireland)
The 22-year-old Irish woman collected figures of 3/25 with the new-ball and took a pair of catches to help restrict Sri Lanka to 260/8 in Belfast, before producing a knock for the ages in reply to score 122* from just 107 deliveries in the three-wicket victory.

Gaby Lewis (Ireland)
23 years of Gaby Lewis hit 17 boundaries and two massive sixes during her stay as Ireland amassed 173/3 with the bat and that proved too much for Sri Lanka as the hosts held on to record the victory and tie the two-match series.
