The third day of the Australia vs India Melbourne Test is over. By the end of the game, India has scored 358 runs after losing nine wickets in their first innings. Australia had scored 474 runs in their first innings. In this respect, India is still 116 runs behind. Nitish Reddy scored a brilliant century. He is currently unbeaten on 105 runs. He has hit 10 fours and a six so far in his 176-ball innings. Mohammad Siraj is also unbeaten on two runs.

Nitish shared a 127-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Washington Sundar, who came to bat at number nine. Both Sundar and Nitish played 150-150 balls. This is the first time in Test cricket that the eighth and ninth number batsmen of a team have played 150+ balls. Both of them jointly played 285 balls i.e. batted for about 48 overs. Sundar was out after scoring 50 runs with the help of one four in 162 balls.

Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal was out after scoring 82 runs, Rohit Sharma three, KL Rahul 24 runs, Virat Kohli 36 runs, Rishabh Pant 28 runs and Ravindra Jadeja 17 runs. Jaspreet Bumrah and Akash Deep could not open the account. India started playing on Saturday at 164 runs for five wickets and added 194 runs. During this, India lost four more wickets. Pant, Jadeja, Bumrah and Sundar were out on Saturday.

Today there was some time left for the third session to be completed. Then the game had to be stopped due to poor light. Then it started raining after which the game was declared over.

Nitish Kumar Reddy has scored a historic century in Melbourne. For this he faced 171 balls. With this, he has become the first Indian batsman to score a century in Australia while playing at number 8 or below.
