IPL 2026 Trade: Ravindra Jadeja-Sanju Samson swap in sight, but Rajasthan Royals put forth a vital condition

People following the Indian Premier League (IPL) have started to talk again as the trade window edges closer to its deadline. The quiet weeks after the last season gave space for guesswork and whispers, but now the reports feel more pointed.

One particular story has drawn attention because it involves two well-known figures and two teams with strong identities. It concerns Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, and it hints at a move that could reshape how both sides set up their core for IPL 2026.

Samson–Jadeja trade discussion

According to Cricbuzz, Chennai Super Kings are ready to trade Ravindra Jadeja in exchange for Sanju Samson. Both sides held talks before as well, BUT those discussions stalled because both camps could not settle the terms. This time, the exchanges have gained pace, though the structure of the deal has stood in the way of a simple agreement.

The report states that both players sit in the same price bracket, but Rajasthan do not wish to make it a direct swap. Instead, they want a second player included in the negotiation. The report mentions the name Dewald Brevis, whom CSK brought in mid-way through IPL 2025 after he remained unsold in the auction.

CSK, however, are clear that they will not send another player alongside Jadeja. Jadeja has been part of CSK since 2012, and the franchise reportedly spoke with him before entering serious talks. Reports say that Royals owner Manoj Badale is leading the dialogue in Mumbai. With the retention deadline approaching on November 15, the report notes that the next call rests with Rajasthan.

Possible outcome

The situation feels like a test of conviction for both teams. CSK appear set on changing their direction, but they still value certain players too much to part with them. RR’s request for Brevis hints at their desire to build depth while replacing their captain with someone proven.

Samson moving to CSK would shift how both batting orders work, while Jadeja returning to a former base would regenerate emotions. It is a bold idea for both sides, but deals of this size demand clarity from the decision makers. With the deadline closing in, the move will depend on who bends first, or whether the talks fall just short of completion.
